Yes, you read that right! In this tutorial, we’re going to dive deep into mastering two of the most important PTE Speaking tasks — Read Aloud and Repeat Sentence — using tried-and-tested strategies that have helped students achieve perfect scores, even up to 90! Whether you’re just getting started or preparing for your final PTE Mock Test, this guide will show you how to improve not just your speaking, but also your Reading and Listening scores — all in one go.
Why This Tutorial Is a Game-Changer
This isn’t just any strategy video. What you’ll learn here will help you:
✅ Improve Speaking
✅ Boost Reading
✅ Sharpen Listening
We’re going to explore:
The One-Line Strategy (also known as the 12-Word Strategy) for Read Aloud
The Hybrid Strategy for Repeat Sentence
Both are simple, effective, and practical, and most importantly, they still work — even in April 2025!
Mastering Read Aloud with the 12-Word Strategy
Let’s begin with the Read Aloud task.
✅ Step-by-Step Guide:
Count the first 12 words only of the sentence (not from anywhere else).
Read each word clearly and slowly at first to get a feel.
If a word is difficult, it’s okay to skip it or replace it with one extra word.
Deliver your sentence smoothly in 3-4 seconds, without pausing — even at punctuation marks.
Speak at a medium pace — don’t rush or slow down.
Avoid self-correction and hesitation.
Example:
“A study found that the research funded by the soft drinks industry…”
Smooth delivery with no pauses or corrections — that’s the key!
Pro Tip:
Even without a high-end microphone, if you follow this strategy, you can still get perfect scores.
Repeat Sentence: Beat the Memory Game with the Hybrid Strategy
Many students struggle with Repeat Sentence, especially new PTE aspirants. Common concerns include:
“I can only remember 3-4 words.”
“I forget the sentence halfway through.”
✅ Step-by-Step Hybrid Strategy:
Fluency is king — even if you only remember 3–4 words, say them fluently and don’t stop!
Target 50% of the words — that’s your first goal.
As you improve, shift to the Hybrid Strategy:
Remember the first 2 words (without writing them).
Note abbreviations (not initials or full words) for 4–5 middle words.
Remember the last few words if possible.
Example sentence:
“The clear evidence between brain events and behavioral events are always fascinating.”
Strategy breakdown:
Remember “The clear…”
Note down: “evi, brain, behav, events”
Recall “are always fascinating”
Important Notes:
Don’t write full words — not enough time.
Don’t write just initials — you’ll forget what they mean.
Speak with natural fluency — avoid rushing.
Real Results Speak Volumes
Using these strategies, I’ve personally achieved 12.8 out of 13 on Repeat Sentence on the first try — and you can too.
Daily Practice Plan (just 30-35 mins):
Do 15 Read Alouds
Do 25 Repeat Sentences
This consistent practice will help you master both tasks and improve your Speaking, Reading, and Listening scores simultaneously.
Practice with VLE Portal
A lot of students ask:
“Where should we practice?”
Head to the VLE PTE Portal where you’ll get free access to VIP scoring for the first few days. Practice your speaking tasks there and test if these strategies work for you (they will).
Final Tips Before Your Exam
Follow the prediction files shared on the VLE Portal — they’re highly repeated in real exams.
Practice daily for a few days with the strategies shown above.
Focus on fluency, not perfection — it’s better to be fluent than 100% accurate.
Your Roadmap to 79+ in PTE
By mastering Read Aloud and Repeat Sentence:
You’ll boost speaking scores significantly.
You’ll gain bonus marks in reading and listening.
